Multiple events and artist tours were announced over the past week. Feenixpawl, the Australian duo behind this summer’s hit “In My Mind,” announced their first U.S. tour, which starts on November 7 and lasts through November.
Afrojack is also coming to the U.S. for his Jacked Tour. The DJ known for hanging around Paris Hilton hits several cities, from Miami to Las Vegas to Tucson, and may even do a large New Year’s Eve performance in New York.
Like Sensation, Barcelona stalwart festival Sonar is coming to the U.S. This year, announced this week, Sonar on Tour hits the U.S. for eight dates, including November 2 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York, and includes Die Antwoord, Azari & III, Seth Troxler, Paul Kalkbrenner,Tiga, and Nic Fanciulli on the bill.
The Ultra Music Festival is celebrating its 15th year in 2013 with six days of EDM: March 15 to 17 and 22 to 24. Tickets just went on sale, although the lineup has yet to be announced.
Out of the U.S., Destiny, a four-day festival from EDM Escapes, was announced. Starting on November 15, Destiny will be in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and features more than 20 artists, including Andy Caldwell, Jody Wisternoff, Miss Nine, and DJ Dan, on the bill.
Sooner, Pretty Lights and Bassnectar are headlining two dates at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia: December 28 and 29.
Without traveling from home, the latest adidas Originals “Stripe Sessions 2012” can be watched from your computer. Streaming live through adidas’ Facebook page, the event features Italian DJ and producer Crookers in the athletic wear brand’s Rome store.
Also on the subject of EDM on the internet, there’s EpicEDM, an online television show from Believe Entertainment Group that’s being launched through Twitter and will feature well-known DJs, including Tiesto and Deadmau5.
The hit track of the week appears to be Steve Angello’s collaboration with Third Party, who are signed to his Size Records. The two performed on the same bill together this summer at Size in the Park, and together, they created “Lights.” The track, in fact, was played twice during Pete Tong’s show, and is officially being released on October 26.
DJ Paul Rudd – no relation to the U.S. actor – put out a new single this week, a track called “Out of My Mind.” The track is expected to be on his upcoming album London Sound.
We’ve been hearing, since the summer, that Skrillex plans to expand to film scores, including Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers and Disney film Wreck-It Ralph. His contribution for the latter was exclusively previewed by MTV. The track, with strong video game influences, is called “Bug Hut.”
For Boys Noize’s latest single, the video for “ICH RU” debuted this week. The visuals and sounds have a strong Daft Punk influence.
If Tiesto can design a fashion line, why not a pair of headphones? This week, the DJ’s AKG by Tiesto was launched and includes three types of headphones: pairs for professional, reference, and high performance use. Specifically created for EDM performers, these headphones, in fact, have been worn by the DJ over the past six months.
