I was in Chicago early this year for a Drupalcon conference (I know, don’t ask). Me and a couple friends linked up and headed out to a private event held at the Underground. That’s when I saw the mohawk, DJ Rock City. He dropped a Daft Punk track and the kat with the Hula Hoop rocked it. I had a blast and the music was tight. Check out this weeks featured Artist Profile, DJ Rock CIty.
From celebrity events (Public Enemies feature film premiere, Pamela Anderson A Muse Fashion Shows, Playboy 50th Anniversary party, and many more) to the hottest clubs across the country, DJ Rock City is constantly on the move. He quickly became the most sought after DJ in his home base of Chicago after performing his high energy sets across the Second city.
With an unmistakable silhouette and an arsenal of versatile and often unexpected music, Rock City gets the crowd hooked. His high powered performances keep them craving more. DJ Rock City has made A-list celebrities such as Johnny Depp, David Beckham, Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, Eminem and Jamie Foxx and clubheads all over America stand up and take notice, and they aren’t sitting down anytime soon. With his prominent Mohawk and signature style, you can’t mistake his presence at all the hottest events and nightclubs.
DJ Rock City’s journey began in the Midwest where he was merely a young kid with a passion for music. When he began spinning at local parties and family gatherings, his unique style and energy got people listening and quickly led to his own weekly club spot, “Adrenaline Rush,” at a very young age.
Boasting a repertoire of sounds from hard-house to hip hop to Motown and everything in between, Rock City is redefining the 21st century DJ in style. His undeniable stage presence won him the coveted position of Maxim Magazine’s 2007 Spring Break DJ in Acapulco, where he dazzled over 20,000 screaming fans and opened for names like DJ AM, DJ Vice, DJ Green Lantern, T-Pain and Lil’ Flip.
Today you can find Rock City spinning and holding down residencies at some of Chicago’s most exclusive nightclubs, a scene that he dominated within six months of his arrival. He has since been voted #1 DJ in Chicago. It is his obvious confidence, distinctive style, and insane skill set that enables DJ Rock City to build lasting relationships with his audiences.
In 2011, Rock City will be taking his talent overseas, where he’ll be touring venues in Europe, Asia and beyond. All international club-goers who get a chance to rock with the famous Mohawk are in for an unforgettable experience.
