The Winter Music Conference may soon have competition. Announced last week, Insomniac, the promoters behind Electric Daisy Carnival, is introducing EDMbiz. A conference geared toward industry professionals, EDMbiz is scheduled the same week as the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. Scheduled from June 5 to 7, the conference falls before the music festival.

Held at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, EDMbiz brings together professionals and industry leaders with up-and-comers and interested businesses and has the goal of forwarding electronic music and increasing its credibility. The event will feature discussions and debates on relevant topics, panelists, and keynote speakers. Director of KCRW-FM and host of Morning Becomes Eclectic, Jason Bentley is hosting the conference.

About the event, Bentley said in a statement: “As electronic dance music reaches new heights of popularity and influence in 2012, EDMbiz has been conceived as a key forum for business development in the community. The EDM lifestyle touches all corners of pop culture today and by creating a smart and effective conference just ahead of the single largest electronic dance music festival in North America, EDMbiz is uniquely positioned to be an essential crossroads for new ideas and opportunities.”
